Largo do Kinaxixi

We were on our way to the restaurant when we decided to pass by the Largo do Kinaxixi. It wasn’t planned , we just went. Sometimes, the best places are found like that, without intention, without hurry.

There’s something about this square that caught my attention. Maybe because it’s open, spacious, with wide views over the city… or maybe because, even in the middle of Luanda’s traffic and noise, this spot feels like a place where the city finally exhales. The heart of the city seems to beat a little slower here.

I stood there for a moment, just observing. The buildings around, the street sounds, the sky above. I thought about how this largo was once a market, and now feels almost like an urban viewpoint. A quiet pause in the constant rhythm of the city.

There isn’t much to “see” in the traditional tourist sense — but there’s a lot to feel. And for me, that counts just as much. Walking through this space made me reflect on how a city is made of layers: of the past, of memories, and of what each of us brings when we pass through.

That’s why I included this spot in my walking tour. Because not everything has to be grand or famous to be worth noticing. Sometimes, all you need is a space where you simply want to be.
