Choose based on luggage, timing and comfort

Not every option fits every arrival. The airport train is now operating again on limited daily departures, public buses are usually cheaper, ride-hailing is often simpler, and taxis work best when the fare is agreed clearly before leaving.

Important update

The airport train connection between Bungo Station and Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport has resumed, with limited daily departures in both directions.

Best mindset

Confirm schedules, prices and availability before travelling, especially for late arrivals, early departures and any service that may change operationally.

Train service has resumed

The regular train link between Bungo Station and Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport was restored on 27 April 2026.

The service is useful for travellers who can plan around fixed departures and who are travelling light enough to move comfortably between stations.

Published as a daily service, Monday to Sunday. Always confirm before relying on it for a flight, especially if schedules change operationally.

Best practice: use the train only if the departure time gives you a comfortable airport margin. For early flights, late arrivals or heavy luggage, compare it with ride-hailing or a pre-arranged taxi.

The cheapest option

TCUL operates public routes linking the new airport with several parts of Luanda, usually making this the best low-cost choice.

This option works best for travellers with lighter bags, more time and greater flexibility on comfort.

Useful notes

  • Shorter and longer semi-express route patterns are used
  • Typical operating window starts around 04:00
  • Service usually continues until the last flight
  • Typical fares are around 500 to 1,000 Kz
  • Luggage space and comfort can vary during rush hours

Simple, but agree the fare first

Taxi ranks are available outside the terminal and can be convenient, especially if you prefer a direct transfer without waiting on app matching.

  • Meters are uncommon, so agree the fare before leaving
  • Ask your hotel or host for a reference price first
  • This is especially useful after late arrivals or if you want a direct journey

Often the most practical option

App-based rides are often the clearest choice on price and convenience, especially for visitors who want a more predictable journey from the airport.

Installing at least one app before landing is a smart move so you can request a ride immediately on arrival.

City-centre connection

Bungo Station is the main central rail hub. It is usually reached by taxi or ride-hailing and may be walkable from some downtown hotels.

For many first-time visitors, informal shared transport is not the easiest or clearest way to reach it.

This video helps with visual orientation to Bungo and surrounding city context before planning the connection.

Transport conditions, schedules, prices and service availability may change. The airport train is operating again according to the latest published information, but travellers should still confirm times before travelling.
