Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN) is the new airport infrastructure serving Luanda. It is located in the commune of Bom Jesus, municipality of Ícolo e Bengo, about 40 km from the city center.
It was inaugurated on November 10th, 2023, and was designed to be one of the largest and most modern airports in Southern Africa.

📏 Size and Capacity

  • Total area: 1,324 hectares (13.24 km²)

  • Annual capacity: 15 million passengers (10 million international, 5 million domestic)

  • Cargo volume: 130,000 tons per year

  • Runways: 2 parallel runways, capable of handling large aircraft including the Airbus A380

  • Boarding bridges: 31 (19 for international flights, 12 for domestic)

  • Baggage belts: 9 (6 dedicated to international flights)

  • Immigration counters: 26

  • Parking: 1,710 vehicle spaces

  • 22 VIP lounges

  • Clinic and first aid center connected to the passenger terminal

  • Commercial area covering 1,825 m²

  • Accessibility: ramps, elevators, and trained staff to assist passengers with reduced mobility

🛂 Entry Facilitation

Since 2023, Angola has implemented a visa exemption policy for citizens of several countries, allowing stays of up to 30 days, with multiple entries permitted up to 90 days per year.
This measure aims to simplify tourism and business travel.
